6 January   Terry Bates

The Trustees were deeply shocked and saddened on Monday to hear of the sudden passing of Mr Terry Bates. Terry has been a trustee of the Trust since 2006 and was due to take over the chairmanship of the Trust this coming April. He brought a tremendous energy and enthusiasm to the work of the Trust, which was coupled with a deep understanding of the town that we serve and he will be greatly missed.

Many people who came into contact with him whether it be through his connections with local sports clubs, his career as a teacher at The Robert Manning College or his many other wider roles will also miss Terry. The town has benefited greatly over the years from his stupendous fund raising activities and the town is the poorer for his passing.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Sue and family.
