Trevor Peacock, Chairman of the Trust said after the event, “Geoff’s story was so truly inspirational and humbling. He acknowledged that he has been extremely fortunate in a number of ways. Firstly, falling in love and marrying Elaine, one of the nurses who cared for him whilst in the spinal injuries unit at Stoke Manderville Hospital and then learning to drive again and then going on to pursue a career in accountancy and I.T. Thereafter he re-learnt to sail, and became the first quadriplegic to sail single-handed round the United Kingdom. His next project is to sail across the North Atlantic!”

Adrian Smith, Trust Manager, said, “I am sure that Len Pick would have approved of Geoff’s message, that disability does not preclude achievement. As a registered charity, we are always looking for innovative means of extending the benefit of Mr Pick’s endowment to all our stakeholders and if this evening has sown the seeds in just one person’s mind that they too can achieve their own Personal Everest, then our investment will have been repaid handsomely”.
